The TL;DR of this policy is: we need to use your data to help us deliver goods to you or provide information that you’ve asked for. We’ll only use it and share it for those purposes, and if you want us to stop, you can email Josh and Becky at privacy(at)vapourspace(dot)net.
Black Armada Games stores relevant information supplied by you in order to fulfill orders made by you for our products either through this website or through third party partners or, where you have given us consent, to send you email updates about what we are up to.
We are committed to protecting your privacy. We are people too and we know how annoying and frustrating it can be being on the receiving end of marketing emails that clog up your inbox. If we do send you emails and you don’t want, then there will be an easy link to unsubscribe at the bottom of the email.
Black Armada Games is the data controller and data processor for the purposes of the Data Protection Act 2018 you can email Josh and Becky at privacy(at)vapourspace(dot)net.
Our policies
We will collect and process your data in accordance with the law, best industry practice and in a fair and transparent way.
If we share your data with a third party it will be for one of two reasons:
- To fulfill an order you have placed with us for either a physical or digital product, we may share it with a delivery partner such as our book printer or the Bits and Mortar digital fulfilment service, Kickstarter and similar organisations. Sometimes this might mean sending your data to the US as in the case of Bits and Mortar and Kickstarter.
- To send out marketing communications from us, we may share it with a partner such as MailChimp.
We will endeavour to put in place Data Processing Agreements with any party who we share your Data with to ensure they are bound to the same laws whether or not they are based in the European Union or the UK.
We will not sell your information to any third party. We will pass your information to third parties but only to the extent needed to fulfill a service to you or administer the mailing list you asked to be on.
What information have we got?
Depending on how and why you have contacted us, we will have your name, shipping and billing addresses and email addresses. We may hold information such as t-shirt sizing and lists of products you have ordered. This information is either stored either in MailChimp’s encrypted services or in our secure systems.
Any payment information you have provided is not stored by us but is instead covered by your bank, Paypal or other payment services. We do not collect or process this information.
Otherwise we will be using your data to fulfill orders you make with us and we will not keep your data after 6 years of the order being completed.
Your rights
You can ask to have your data removed or amended in our database at any time by emailling Josh and Becky at privacy(at)vapourspace(dot)net.
You can ask to see what information of yours we hold by emailling Josh and Becky at privacy(at)vapourspace(dot)net and we will provide this information within 30 days.
If you think we have screwed up your privacy then please tell us so we can fix it. But if you don’t want to you can always contact the Information Commissioner’s Office here. They are the regulator for data protection.
Your options
If you receive newsletters and marketing emails from us it is because you actively said YES at some point in the recent past. You can change your mind at any time and choose to be removed from those mailing lists by using the Unsubscribe button at the bottom of the email. Otherwise we will keep your data for as long as you wish to receive emails.
How do we protect your information?
Whenever you provide your details to us it comes through a secure system. We are only a tiny business but the webservices we use to fulfill our orders and our mailing list have secure server software such as Secure Sockets Layer or Transport Layer Security as appropriate (you might recognise these when they are shortened to SSL or TLS) which encrypts all information you input before it is sent out. We follow strict processes as required by the new UK Data Protection Law and the General Data Protection Regulation on how we store your data. If you want to know more about that then please email Josh and Becky at privacy(at)vapourspace(dot)net.
So what about Cookies then?
We may use cookies on our website. These are small pieces of data stored via your web browser on your hard drive. They usually make it easier for you to navigate our website but recalling details you have previously entered. If you see a pop up on our website asking for permission to place a cookie on your computer than this is why. You can still access our services even if you don’t want anything to do with cookies though and you should be able to get rid of them in your web browser.
